Orchestra Mambo International is a UK Latin jazz and mambo orchestra co‑founded by trombonist and bandleader Jonny Enright and DJ Lubi. With a cross‑generational, international line‑up, the group draws on the classic New York salsa dura and Latin jazz tradition in a contemporary large‑ensemble format, and previous releases have received support from Gilles Peterson, Cerys Matthews and Craig Charles on BBC 6 Music, Jamie Cullum on BBC Radio 2, and Soweto Kinch on BBC Radio 3, alongside live appearances including Glastonbury Festival 2025.
“Yenyere” is the second single from Orchestra Mambo International’s debut album, ¡Apúntalo!, written by Jonny Enright and lead vocalist Carlos Peña. Taking its title from an Afro‑Latin term meaning “joy” or “goodness”, it is an up‑tempo salsa recording at 205 BPM inspired by the 1970s salsa/jazz work of Eddie Palmieri and Ray Barretto, featuring Peña on lead vocals, John Settle on vibraphone, heavy horn lines, driving percussion and a pronounced mambo‑section feel.
